BULLET PRESENT STATUS:

 
BULLET Maintenance Component:

World Bank has indicated US $ 110.72 Million  for maintenance of State Government Roads and safety works. About 2000 Km of Government Roads have been identified for maintenance. It is proposed to take up 200 km of road for performance-based maintenance. Maintenance of selected roads will be taken up in a four years cycle. For the first year programme, Detailed Engineering Design and preparation of bid documents have been done through two Consultants. There are 17 contract packages to take up first year road works of 700 km at a value of Rs. 214.72 crores as approved in G.O. Ms. No.219 Highways dated 5.11.03. National Competitive Bidding (NCB) process has been adopted. Bids were invited in two tranches and evaluation of bids for packages MC 1 to 17 has been completed. No objection for evaluated bids has been obtained from the World Bank. Agreement concluded between 14.07.2004 to 21.07.2004 for packages MC 9 to MC 11 expect MC 11, which has been deleted. Agreement concluded for packages MC 1 to MC 8 except for package MC1 for which rebidding is proposed.

BULLET Technical Review of Maintenance Works:  

It is proposed to appoint a Consultant to review, particularly quality assurance measures, the first year maintenance works supervised by Department officials. is adopted for this purpose. M/s Wilbur Smith Associates, Chennai is the successful consultant under Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) and the value of service is Rs.34.45 lakhs. Department officials will supervise the first year maintenance works. The loan amount has a provision of Rs.4.04 crores for this purpose for the entire four-year maintenance component. The agreement is signed on 28.07.2004.
