GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
|

The Government of India (GOI) intends to apply for a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) amounting to about US$ 325 Million equivalent toward the cost of improving the State Highways and the associated agencies in Tamil Nadu under the Tamil Nadu Road Sector Project, and it further intends to apply the proceeds of this loan to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project. The project will broadly include the following components:

The project preparation was undertaken in three main phases along with an institutional development and maintenance study. The major works contracts are proposed to be let out in four packages and the supervision consultant services in two packages. As indicated in the above table institutional strengthening and road safety components will include use of technical services and assistance in the form of consultancies, works and equipment. The maintenance component is intended to include maintenance works on about 2000 km in addition to some innovative pilot practices along with some supporting technical assistance services for designing and quality audit. |

Procurement of contracts financed by the loan will be conducted through the procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997 and January 1999). |

Specific procurement
notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international
competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for large-value consultants’
contracts will be announced, as they become available, in Development
Business, National newspapers and Hand book of Indian Road Congress.
